The coin under the title “Black Rhinoceros” is another release in the exciting new Wildlife in Need series paying tribute to critically endangered species. Shown on the obverse of the silver coin, there is the portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. Along the rim of the coin, there are the inscriptions indicating the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin, the name of the issuing country as well as the issuing year. The beautifully illustrated reverse showcases the colored image of a black rhinoceros with its calf against the background of the African Savannah. Below them, there is a pair of supporting hands. The black rhinoceros is a large species of rhinoceros native to Africa. Today, it is a critically endangered animal reported to be on the brink of extinction in the wild, for lots of black rhinos have been illegally poached for their extremely strong horns which they use for defense and digging up food.
