PAIR OF ANTIQUE/VINTAGE MAJOLICA TEXTURED BACKGROUND PLATES; WITH LAYERED LEAF DESIGN; MARKED "MADE IN GERMANY" ; IMPRESSED "176" AND STAMPED "22" Theses plates were part of my mother's collection of majolica for many years. Each measures 7.5 inches in diameter. Background is a stippled yellow texture. Rim is circled by a brown line. Plates design is layered leaves with green centers and pink/red edges. My mother called them cheese plates and said that the leaf design was a traditional motif for plates for cheese. Please look at photos and email if you have questions. The back of each plate in impressed with the number 176 with a small symbol next to it. The symbol looks sort of like a circle with 6 spokes coming out of it and a dot outside it to the lower left. The number 22 and the words "Made in Germany" are also stamped on the back. Please look at the hallmark photo. Condition: T are no chips.T is one line crack in the glaze of each plate when held at an angle to the light. One is about 1/2 inch long and the other is about 3.5 inches long.
