A pair of antique German Souvenir China Soapdrain Shaving Mugs, each depicting a different school from the 1890s-1900s. Each mug is 3 3/4" high with a 3 1/4" mouth. Each has a three drain holed pocket for a piece of shaving soap and a compartment for water & brush. Hence the name "Soapdrain" shaving mug. Each has a ribbed body with a hand painted scene of the school on front. Mug #1 shows "Ogdensburg Free Academy" and is marked on the bottom in a black oval "Made in Germany for Z.B. Buckman Ogedensburg N.Y. 465".; Mug #2 shows the" Normal School Randolph, Vt." and is marked "Made in Germany for W.E. Lamson West Randolph, Vt. 100". Both are in good condition with no chips,cracks or flakes. Each has some gold trim remaining on the rims.
