This is a 'lot' of two detailed, made in Mexico , knives with sheaths. The #1 knife is overall 14 ¾" in length. The handle is cast in an eagle motif with inset horn. The brass handle frame has, as shown in the photo, detailed engraved design. The blade is a hefty 10" and the maker's stamp is "A PALMA" with a palm tree design. Blade and leather sheath ( very intricately done!) are in very good condition. Knife #2 is overall slightly over 14" long. The handle is wood with brass. This knife shows slightly more wear than knife #1. The makers mark on the 8" blade show " Oaxaca - Made in Mexico ." I can't read the other marking. This knife has, on one side of the blade, a very clear engraved scene (and is signed "Cervantes"), typical of knives made by Casa Aragon . The sheath on knife #2 also shows more wear and is not complete-a part of the top is obviously missing. Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions about the condition of these two EXCELLENT examples of Mexican knife making. Although these particular knives are not marked Casa Aragon , I will include an 11 page copy of the 1985 article on " Mexican Bowies and Casa Aragon " to give you an idea of the background of vintage Mexican made knives, especially those made in the Oaxaca area. These are truly wonderful examples of the skill put into Mexican knife making and will be read more
