Glass Beads, Metals and Glass Handles?

Found these two pretty bamboo baskets at an auction this week. Am not a basket expert but guess them to be vintage prior to 1940s? and made in China?

Baskets measure 8" and 10 1/2" across, the smaller being approx. 3" deep and the larger approximately 5" deep.

Both appear to be made of stained bamboo? I can see bamboo on the ribs, am unsure if the actual woven material is bamboo or some other material. Colors are slightly different although the style is similiar. Because the tops seem so dusty, it is hard to evaluate if the colors of baskets are identical (and tfore a set). I did not attempt to clean these as I do not know what is the safe way to remove the storage dust and dirt so will leave that to the buyer.

Tops are very decorative on these baskets. Usually I see these with a few beads remaining, these both seem to have all their original glass beadwork and metal coins. The poor tassels, that look like silk, have seem better days and are shedding worse than a cocker spaniel but knotting them will probably conserve them a bit.

T are read larger glass beads in milky pink and blue, clear red, clear glass with gold lining, and royal blue beads that look like ceramic or glazed clay (some beads match on both baskets). Tassels have clear green and what looks like glass made to look like lemon yellow jade. The handles are interesting, two big blue rings on smaller basket, one green one on larger. The smaller blue sure seem like glass, the green one looks a bit like clear plastic but it is heavy and is possibly glass. Larger basket lid also has two bead handles fastened on each side with metal coins, plus a loop of bead fastened with one coin. The smaller lid as ten coins, some with a single three bead decoration and some that are fastened together. Lots of flash for the money on these.

Condition: Baskets appear to be in very good condition. Only damage appears to be breakage on the rim of the lid of the larger basket. Looks like w the weaving joined, it has started to fray, so t is a 5" section that is loose. Maybe it is repairable with a few discrete stitches of strong thread? Bottoms of baskets in good shape, still shiney with what ever is used to finish them. No breakage on bottom or rim of the bottoms of the baskets. Lids are terribly dirty, must have been uncovered and stored for 50 years. No stains, just very dusty. Beads appear to all be original and in place. Tassels are showing their age and are shedding badly, might need repair or replacement.

Very nice looking baskets with all of their flashy beading in place. If you dont mind a bit of dust!!
