Two early 19th Century pattern glass salts manufactured by the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company, Sandwich, Massachusetts. One is in the 'Shell' pattern. It measures 3 1/8" long by 2" wide by 1 5/8" high. It is in very nice condition. T is minor expected roughness along the top outside edges and a small chip on one side of the top edge. Neither really detract from the piece and t are no cracks or large chips. The mold is very crisp. This salt is illustrated on page 418 of 'Pressed Glass Salt Dishes Of The Lacy Period 1825-1850' by L.W. and D.B. Neal. The second salt is in the 'Strawberry Diamond' pattern. It measures 2 7/8" long by 2" wide by 1 7/8" high. Again, t is minor roughness along the top outside edges and t is a crack on one side. This salt is illustrated on page 454 of the same book. These pieces are fresh from a Boston area estate. Please see my current listings for other early Sandwich Glass pieces from the same estate. Bid with confidence as our items are guaranteed as described.
