This lovely set of two Art Deco dining chairs was made in England, circa 1920. We purchased the chairs in Bristol, England. The chairs are made of Mahogany , a very revered species of wood, often considered the most valuable. Each has a rare rich, Golden, Mahogany patina. These are English, Art Deco dining chairs , in very good condition.This remarkable set of chairs are a fine sample of Deco era craftsmanship . The aesthetic of the collection appears to have a Dutch, de Stijl influence. The group advocated a Utopian style: "the universal harmony of life." Its ideal of purity and order in life and society as well as art reflects the Calvinist background of its members. Each of the chairs has an elegant minimalist, arching crest rail across its top. Two straight stiles span up from serving as back legs in an gracefully unified form.Four straight, splat rails reach up the back, that are supported by a arched stretcher along the bottom edge. This collection has stunning simplicity abound! The seats are made in drop-in seat design . These are currently covered in a plaid fabric . The drop-in seat design of the chairs make them very easy to recover. The upholstery is in good condition. These chairs are raised upon straight tapering legs, with straight stretchers .Whether you have a contemporary, transitional or classic style of home decor, this series would make a fantastically unique antique accent.
