Beck/London & Philadelphia, No. 8971, with Wenham-pattern tubes with rack-and-pinion coarse focusing, Lister limb with micrometer fine focusing at rear, circular glass stage, Zentmayer-type swinging substage, and plano-concave mirror on compass joint, on tapering pillar to tripod foot, 15.5` high; AND a lacquered-brass student microscope ca 1850 by Charles Baker, signed on the foot Baker, 244 High Holborn, London, with rackwork coarse focusing on the bar-limb, fine screw adjustment on nosepiece, square stage, trunions to Y-foot and mahogany base, and one eyepiece; 15.75` high. Richard and Joseph Beck are listed at 31 Cornhill, London, 1847 to 1894. Charles Baker was active at 244 High Holborn, London, ca 1850.
