CLASSIC WAR TITLE SEVRIN COVER AND ART ART BY DAVIS After the War ended, comic sales started to drop. More specifically, superheroes as a genre began to drop. Publishers looked around for something to replace the long-johns. Under the guidance of Max Gaines, had a history of publishing books such as Picture Stories of the Bible and Pictures Stories of American History. In 1947 Max Gaines died in a boating accident and his son William came in to deal with the family business. William had a slightly different take on the comic industry. Within a year the titles published by EC had begun to move away from the standards established by Max. William was trying to keep a company afloat in a decreasing market. The title replaced The Haunt of Fear with issue #18. It is considered to be one of the greatest War books ever created. Severin's art is stunning throughout. His writing is just as exhilarating. The stories often shocked readers with not only their violence, but the moral opinion found between the lines. This issue features the classic tale Warrior! . The book has been graded FN. The cover has a light bit of wear. Still, t is a nice reflective gloss. The staples are solid. The pages are off-white. This is a perfect reading issue. The interiors look great.
