This auction is for two letters, one hand-signed by Vice President Spiro Agnew and the other by Nelson A. Rockefeller months beforeappointment to serve as Gerald Fordâe(tm)s Vice President. The letters are addressed to mylate-grandfather, Del Clawson (R-CA), who was an 8-term member of the US House of Representatives and chairman of the Republican Partyâe(tm)s Policy Committee.
The letter from Agnew is dated August 9, 1971, is been typed and is in mint condition with only a fold in the middle so that the letter would fit in the envelope. The envelope is not included in this auction. The Rockefeller letter is dated August 30, 1974 and was sent from his office at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The envelope to this letter is included in the auction. Rockefeller spent millions of dollars of his own money in attempts to secure the Republican nomination for President. Vice President was as close as he came and he retired from politics following his term as VP. In the 16 years that my grandfather served in Congress, he and my grandmother collected everything . Please contact me with any questions. Payment is expected within 5 days of auction end. I prefer PayPal but accept money orders/cashiers checks and personal checks, which must clear prior to shipment. I do combine shipping with an additional purchases shipped for $1 more.
