Waltham Type A-17 US WWII Military Hack Watch. This is a very nice example of the US Military hacking wrist watch made by Waltham. The dial is original and excellent with the original, extra, 13-24 hour markings in radium. The sweep hand is not original. The hour and minute hands are original, and a little bit of the luminous material has been replaced. The case is original, stainless steel, marked Waltham with all the other correct markings on the back, and is in excellent condition with only a little bit of wear. I am no expert on crowns for these so I have no idea if the crown is original or not. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled and is marked Waltham 6/0-D. This has the hack mechanism which stops the second hand when setting the watch, which allows precise time coordination. The serial number is partially obscured by a bridge, so I am unsure of the exact production date. My understanding is that at least some of these were made for use during WWII. This is an excellent example of a scarce and very collectible US military wrist watch. Not many of these show up any more!
