Why buy an expensive replica when you could sport this original beauty? If you are unfamiliar with this model and wish to educate yourself about the storied history of this style of jacket I recommend that you view one of the many historical websites to World
War II bomber jackets on the web. T are many reference sites that describe how rare and beautiful these old beauties are. This jacket was made by the Werber Sportswear Co. in Newburgh, New York from carefully tanned skins and natural dyes. The Sheepskin maintains much of its original suppleness and is not dry rotted, although it does have a couple of minor cracks. Some stitching is missing on the arm w two skins were connected(about one inch). T are some scuffs and light stains and wear that one would expect from a coat that was probably worn in a major war theater around 60 years ago! This jacket appears to be well cared for since then. The zipper is the original Crown with a spring loaded pull and a one hook tooth grabber. The zipper did work less than a year ago but alas, when I tried to zip it up some teeth fell out and cracks in the material formed and it seems unlikely that it will ever work again. You could replace it with a modern one, (I know it is blasphemous but people can do whatever they like with it if they win the bid!) It is definitely a whole lot cooler with the original intact. The paint on the back is worn and mostly gone but one can see that it had the original Army Air Forces logo. The size is 48R which should speak for itself. I know people like measurements so I have some for you : Armpit to Armpit is 24 inches, Waist measures about 19 inches(38 inches around, but is highly adjustable with the side cinches), From armpit to end of sleeve is about 20 inches and from the shoulder to the end of the sleeve is about 27 inches. Study the pictures carefully and if you need further clarification or more pictures I will try and Email them to you if you contact me early enough. I do have a life off the computer so be patient. This is a serious artifact from a very important time in our history so serious bidders only please. I took great pains to find and photograph the defects as well as the beauty of this item so please examine closely before you bid. This is a used item and is sold as is. Refunds will be cheerfully given if the description fails to note anything major that a reasonable person would see. I am not an expert at WWII items so if you have questions regarding minute details of this model please consult the many shrines to this sort of jacket. T are online museums to bomber jackets a google click away.
