HERE IS A NICE HAND SIGNED WHITE HOUSE LETTER FROM 1971 FROM THEN PRESIDENT RICHARD NIXON.
THE LETTER IS ON WHITE HOUSE STATIONERY AND HAS AN EMBOSSED PRESIDENTIAL SEAL AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE
THE LETTER IS DATED DECEMBER 15TH 1971 AND IS SIGNED WITH HIS INITIALS 'RN'
THE LETTER IS ADDRESSED TO 'BILL' WHOM I WOULD IMAGINE WAS AN ACQUAINTANCE OF THE LATE PRESIDENT
THE CONTENTS OF THE LETTER EXPRESSES THANKS FOR HIS KIND REMARKS BEFORE THE SEMORAN REPUBLICAN WOMEN'S CLUB IN WINTER PARK, AND HIS CONTINUING FORTHRIGHT SUPPORT OF HIS ADMINISTRATION OF WHICH IS DEEPLY APPRECIATED.
THE RECIPIENT OF THE LETTER IS THE HONORABLE C.W. YOUNG OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES IN WASHINGTON D.C.
THE LETTER IS APPROXIMATELY DATED SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE WATERGATE BREAK-IN WHICH OCCURRED ON JUNE 17TH , 1972 AT THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE HEADQUARTERS AT THE WATERGATE OFFICE COMPLEX IN WASHINGTON D.C. WHICH EVENTUALLY LED TO THE NIXON ADMINISTRATION'S ATTEMPTED COVER-UP OF ITS INVOLVEMENT.
FACING NEAR CERTAIN IMPEACHMENT IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND A STRONG POSSIBLILITY OF A CONVICTION IN THE SENATE , NIXON RESIGNED THE PRESIDENCY ON AUGUST 9TH , 1974 AND BECAME THE FIRST PRESIDENT TO RESIGN THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES DUE TO IMPLICATIONS THAT HE PARTICIPATED IN THE COVER UP
