Lyster bags were used in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. I believe this bag was manufactured in 1980 (see shipping document at picture 4). However the cover (or lid) is not matching and is a little lighter color, so it probably was not in the original issue with this bag. Although I cannot guarantee it, I don't think this bag was ever used, because the shipping document were still in the bottom of the bag, and the overall condition of the bag (I cannot say that about the lid). This bag is in great condition, and is very functional. The six (6) faucets all work. The pictures listed are of the EXACT bag you are bidding. The bag with the cover and 6 functional faucets. Description of the Lyster / Lister Bag Although commonly called the Lyster Bag (or Lister Bag) the correct modern nomenclature is "Bag, Water, Sterilizing" with NSN 4610-00. The Lyster Bag was a component of Field Feeding Equipment, such as the Mobile Kitchen Trailer, with one Lyster Bag supplied according to the unit size of the kitchen, issued approximately one per 100 persons. The newer Containerized Kitchen does not include the Lister Bag.The 36 gallon capacity Lyster Bag was approximately 36 inches tall by 22 inches in diameter.
