for auction is a rare book for the U.S.Grant and Schuyler Colfax campaign in 1868. The book is in good condition. The covers are slightly lose but firmly attached. T are a few wrinkles on material on front cover.(see picture). I do not know if this was casued by water or not. No other signs of any water damage. Published in Boston by Lee and Shepard in 1868. See title page picture.People's Edition - Life and Public Services of - General Ulysses S. Grant - From His Boyhoood to the Present Time and A Biographical Sketch of Schuyler Colfax by Charles A. Phelps. Embellished with 2 steel plates and 4 illustrations . Back side of cover page reads: Electrotyped and printed by George C.Rand and Avery. KThe 3 page appendix at back of book is the Republican Platform. Book pages are in excellent condition. The front of the book has portraits of Grant and Colfax with the tissue page between the two picturres. is a rare campaign item for U.S. Grant and his running mate. It contains a lot of Civil War history in many of the chapters on Grant.
