See the scans. This is a U.S. Marine Corps enlisted collar emblem in the distinctive so-called "China" pattern used from 1930-1937. These were called "China" emblems, as they were favored by the 4th Marines and Legation Guard stationed in China in the build up to WWII. This is the usual 1" high and 1" wide with the threaded post and nut fastener.
Generally VF condition. Dark spot that I haven't tried to clean in the middle of the globe. The little protruding pin on the back of the eagle (to keep the device from slipping or spinning on the uniform collar) has been shortened. Great display item or it would make a nice gift for a Marine collector. NO RESERVE !!! I will be listing other interesting American military insignia this week. NOTE: I am very good about getting my orders out promptly, sometimes same day and almost always within 24 hours. However, lately the U.S. postal "service" has been very spotty. In the last several months, I have had first class insured items take over a month to California and two weeks in New York State. Most are delivered in a timely fashion, but a few are not. NEW RULES FOR 2007 - NO OVERSEAS SALES, CANADA AND U.S. ONLY. Sorry about that, but my airmail small packets are being stolen enroute to England and Belgium. ALSO: ALL ITEMS MUST HAVE AT LEAST MINIMUM ($50) INSURANCE. NO EXCEPTIONS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Buyer pays $4.00 for insured postage. I will combine postage on multiple orders.
