Up for auction is a makeup compact from the united states navy made either for the female wave in the navy or for the wives of navy seaman. Probably made for both during WWII. This compact has the Great Seal of the United States of America in red white and blue on the enameled lid. The compact measures 3 inches square by 3/8 inches deep. On the cover it has a seal of the U.S. Navy with an eagle, sheild of red white and blue, thirteen white stars and an olive branch in on claw and arrows in the other, on an unfurled ribbon that says E Pluribus Unum and the words U.S. Navy. It opens to a three inch framed mirror and then opens again to a place w I assume t was pressed rouge for ones' nose. It is unsigned, no makers mark although very much like the goldtones that are also unmarked in the compact book by Laura M. Mueller. It is in good condition. Normal wear. Snaps work, surface is free of major scuffs or scratches. T is a tiny dent on the backside. Nice goldtone, unmarked, loose powder compact. Thanks for looking and for your consideration.
