Bayonet Model 1913 /1917 Manufactured by Remington This was manufactured for the British pattern 1913/1917 U.S. Enfield .303 rifle . This particular bayonet is one of a relatively small number made for the U.S This can be seen by the fact that t are NO British inspectors marks on this bayonet. It is stamped (US) as it does have the additional U.S ordnance bomb mark and eagle head with 17 which appears on US examples. The other side is stamped with the model year (1917) and the Remington manufactures mark The blade is in quite clean condition and measures 17 inches, the handle grips are wood and have the two horizontal groves cut into them denoting the 1917 Enfield rifle bayonet. The screws retaining the grips are free so the grips can be removed easily. The securing catch works freely with good spring action. The muzzle ring is round and works on the barrel. The blade has a slight bend at the hilt area, it does not affect the use, and is hardly noticeable at all. I think this is an interesting and slightly rare version of this particular bayonet a good collectors item.
