Uhl Blue Stoneware Dairy Advertising Pitcher O'Brien County Sanborn Iowa Blue glazed pitcher with basketweave trellis type design behind grapes and grape leaves with an ivy border. Milk or cream pitcher measures 7" tall, 4 1/2" bottom diameter. Under the spout, in darker blue it is stamped "O'Brien County Co Op Creamery Sanborn, Iowa PHONE 130" T are several factory glaze pops all over the outside surface, typical of yelloware and stoneware. T is a diamond shaped spot of glaze miss or loss on the handle which measures 1/4" tall and 1/8" across. T are also spots of glaze miss on the bottom side. The inside has some grazing and slight discoloration. T is also a chip right in the center of the spout which measures 1/4" from left to right and 1/8" from top to bottom. No other cracks, chips or repairs. Given the 3 digit phone number, I would estimate it was made sometime between 1900 to 1930. The McNerney Blue & White Stoneware book calls this same pitcher Uhl Pottery on page 64 only the one I have is smaller. This item is being sold with no reserve to the highest bidder.
