[zipedit] United Kingdom of Great Britain & Ireland 10 Shilling Treasury Note Issue 2 Bradbury circa 1915 Second issue note , red on white , designed by George Eve produced in 1915 .This note single sided measures 136mm X 76mm was printed by De La Rue on proper watermarked banknote paper produced by William Joynson and Co . The reverse of this note is plain. Quantity produced is unknown and they remained in circulation until 1920. Note***Ten shilling , red ink on white paper , notes were first produced in 1914 (Issue 1) to Royal Mint designs and were "single sided" . They were produced from plates made by Eyre and Spottiswoode by two firms , Waterlow Bros. and Layton (6 digit serial numbers) and Thomas De La Rue (5 digit serial numbers).The notes measure 127mm X 63.5mm and were legal tender until 1920 printed on stamp paper as no banknote paper was readily available . The quantity of notes printed is unknown but estimated at 10 million . The notes bore the signature of John Bradbury , Secretary to the Treasury , and were nicknamed Bradbury's.
