VINTAGE WORLD WAR II REGAL "VICTORY" UKULELE Although there may have been one offered in the past, I myself have never seen one of these offered on Ebay. Up for bid is no doubt this is one of the rarest and one of the coolest of the vintage Regal painted soprano scale ukeleles ever produced by The Regal Musical Instrument Company ( 1908-1954) of Chicago, Il. This style of ukulele was produced only a year or two during the World War two to help promote the morale and victory of the American nation on winning the war. No telling how many G.I’s sat around playing one of these on their Army bases. Made circa October, 1942 during World War II of "non-critical material," this birch wood ukulele has wooden friction tuning pegs with 12 maple frets (i.e. no metal parts). It has a red, white and blue motif with two “V's” for Victory, an American Eagle with warplanes stenciled on the sound board face. There is the original Regal logo on headstock. The measurements are: 6-3/4" lower bout, ~13-1/8" scale, ~21" total length. It does not have any strings on it. The neck is a little bit loose and appears to have been glued at some point in its history to help secure it back to the body. The back board is pulling loose on both back bottom corners ( see pics ), but can easily be re-glued and clamped to hold together until it dries. I have not
