We keep good relationship with Gema-the King of Dzi, as many people call him. My Dzi collection began almost the same time as Gema did. At the end of 1980’s, I made my living on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau by purchasing sheepskin, just as Gema did. Before the Taiwanese went to Tibet to collecting Dzi, most of the Tibetan people only regard Dzi as Talisman. Only in some remote area, Tibet people will use it as currency occasionally. However, due to the shut-away from the outside world and poverty, most of the Tibetan people didn’t know the price for Dzi has been increasing greatly in southeast Asia (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand, etc.). So the Taiwanese quoted very low price to Tibetan people for their precious Dzi. But Gema knows the real value of Dzi. He began to collect Dzi in full scale. Since being often with him, I came across some precious Dzi in the pasturing area occasionally. Sometimes, I would collect them. Of course my collection is less than 10% of Gema’s, because the collection is not only based on good luck, but also based on strong financial background.
