A note of clarification:this is not an auction relisting. My first auction for the AlamedaCounty Weekender with the Pray For Anton LaVey button ended successfully on 10/16 (winning bid: $151). My second auction for the Alameda County Weekender with the Satan Is Alive And Well In San Francisco button ended successfully on 10/26 (winning bid: $184.50). This is my third auction for an issue of the same newspaper with BOTH rare buttons (see photos). This will be your last opportunity to get the Pray For Anton LaVey button - one of the most famous and sought after pieces of 20th century culture. I recently met someone in Phoenix that lived in the Bay Area in the '60s, and she gave these to me. This is the Alameda County Weekender from 2/14/1966 - as you likely know, this predates Anton shaving his head and the official formation of the Church Of Satan by just a few months. It is 24 pages , half of which (!) are about Anton LaVey and the group of people around him at the time. The cover story on the LaVeys is titled 'How belief in Magic grows in the Bay Area'. It contains 29 PHOTOGRAPHS (of Anton with hair!, tons of photos of the inside of 'The Black House', Diane LaVey, Togare, the secret fireplace door, etc etc etc!). It is the most intimate portrait of Anton LaVey and his family and house I've ever seen. It is in a large (11.5" x 16"), urban-weekly newsprint format. It is in PERFECT SHAPE (even the folds are solid). Also in this auction - the winning bidder will receive TWO ultra rare, infamous items - one of each of the buttons that were handed out by the LaVeys / Church Of Satan at the San Francisco premiere of Rosemary's Baby (read Michael Aquinos account of the early days of the church at his website for more info). These are the real deal - the woman told me she got them at the premiere in 1968 from Anton himself. Each one is a large 1.5" pinback button in mint, unused shape (please note: for some reason the uploaded jpeg of the red button looks blurry , but looks perfectly sharp on my computer - in reality, the black text is crisp and clear on the red background).Don't miss this impossibly rare interview / spread.
