RUSSIAN LIBERATION ARMY SOLDIER'S (ROA) DOGTAG This is (needless to say) the rarest of the rare WW II dog tags. The seller brought the WW II artifact back from one of his European trips to WW II battlefields.The dog tag belonged to one of General Andrey Andreyevich Vlasov's volunteer Russian Liberation Army soldiers' fighting his own countrymen on the side of the German WehrmachtGeneral Vlasov was a Russian former Soviet Army General who collaborated with Germany during WW II.He founded the Russian Liberation Committee, in hopes of creating the Russian Liberation Army known as ROA. The goal was to overthrow Stalinism and create an independent Russian state, offering a democratic form of government. This army was formed in 1944 its only instance of fighting against the Communists took place in February of 1945 on the Oder river. Vlasov's Army was forced to retreat against overwhelming Soviet forces.At war end he was turned over by Americans to the Soviets w he was taken to Moscow and along with eleven senior officers of his Army a summary trial was held and all were found guilty and hanged on August 1, 1946.T is a memorial dedicated to the General and his participants at the Novo Deveevo Russian Orthodox convent and cemetery in Nanuet, New York.Please ask all question(s) prior to bidding as sale is final.
