Here is an uncommon and beautiful Minton pate sur pate enameled plate. It is on a claret ground and decorated with 5 birds in different poses on a branches with leaves and foliage and is very finely decorated. It has a gilt patterned border wavy rim. The plate measures 8 3/4 inches (22.3 cms) in diameter at widest point. This piece is unsigned but is more than likely to be by the artist W. Key as i have a cup and saucer in my listings by this artist. Marked to base with lightly impressed Minton China and 7-43/44 for May 1943/44. These pieces were made in small quantities.
