UNDERWOODS by Robert Louis Stevenson SIGNED by Famous Composer Clayton Johns 1887, Author’s Edition - First American Edition, Charles Scribner’s Sons, New York, 138 pages. Poems by Robert Louis Stevenson: 38 in English, and 16 in Scots. Signed and dated (Sept 21, 1887) by the famous composer, Clayton Johns, 1857 - 1932, with a quote in his handwriting from Stevenson’s poem A Song of the Road which is included in this volume. Clayton Jones’ more than 100 compositions included: Forever and a Day; The Barefoot Boy; I Cannot Help Loving Thee; Where Blooms the Rose; I Love and the World Is Mine; and Wanderlieder. Hard covered book in Very Good condition, clean and tight with no marks except the inscription by the author. Pages are clean and white with some browning near the edges. Two-tone brown covers with gilt titles on the spine and brown title and name on the front are bright and sharp; light wear at spine ends and corners, one corner bumped. No dust jacket.
