UNION IRON JACK PLANE, X-NO 5, EXCELLENT This is a Union iron jack plane #X-5. Union Manufacturing Co made planes in New Britain, Conn between 1900 and 1920.The lever adjustment on this plane is a vertical threaded post with two brass adjustments nuts to control and lock the arms which in turn adjust the cutter. Apparently Union made a series of special "X" series and this is one of those. Cast in the toe of the cast iron body is "X NO. 5". Cast in the rear is "UNION PAT 12.8.03". Plane has acst iron body and mahogany handles and knobs. . Plane base is 14" long and 2 7/16" wide. The cutter is 2" wide and marked "UNION MFG. CO. NEW BRITAIN, CT. U.S.A." at the top. This plane is in excellent condition. T is no rust or pitting anyw on the body, the japanning is about 99% and the handle and knob are just about perfect. This plane is about as nice as they come and fairly hard to find besides. An example of a scarce plane that will never need to be upgraded. My E-Bay philosophy is simple, you are the customer and you decide how you want to handle the deal. I will go along with most anything as long as it is not too outrageous and you keep me informed. If it will be a few days before you get payment to me, no problem, just let me know so I will not worry about it being lost. I do not have any hard and fast time lines on what happens read more
