Here we have an original Union Loom Works Yard Wide 2 Harness Loom originally available mail order from Boonville NY. It comes complete with manual, book Hand Loom Weaving for Amateurs, and pamphlet Weaver's Manual from the Maysville Guild. The books are almost more interesting than the loom... Did you know you can earn and extra $18 to $24/week weaving!!! Unbelievable!!!;-) The loom itself all appears to be there including shuttles. Looks to me like it needs a little Murphy's oil soap, little vinigar scrubbing for the rust and a coat of linseed oil, but we assembled it... with only a few extra part (included) and it lookes to function just fine. There are a few extra holes and some gouging to the wood that is visible in pictures. I am presenting this item on orders from the daughter of the original owner... The daughter is 76 years old. I understand the story regarding the holes and gouging to be that her father had diminished strength in his upper arms and chest from polio. He made modifications to the loom to accomodate this. We have backed out all of his design adaptations so what you get is the original loom. The loom is 44" wide, 41" deep, 33" from the floor to the level of the warp or 57" from the floor to the top of the loop. The manual says that shipping weight is 170 lbs, but there is this matter of the yarn already wrapped on the spindle... I have to believe that is going to add another 50 lbs. if your want it sent with the yarn on... I lifted it alone, so I am sure it's not 100 lbs... I will completely disassemble the loom for shipping. I can however deliver it assembled for $75 if you live within 100 (give or take) miles of Rochester NY. As a matter of fact, if you live within 600 miles, we might be able to work things out, but please contact me before bidding. I't really not too bad to assemble. I did it just from the drawing the book and you'll have my pictures:-) but it will take an hour or two. What a great piece for someone interested in looms or a great starter set if you have been considering starting a little business on the side...
