Up for auction is an extremely rare Union No. 44 beading plane. this was made around the turn of the century (It was advertised in the Hammacher and Schlemmer cataloge in 1905). This plane was a Union exclusive and was made in 3 sizes, this one being the smallest at 1/4". It is in very nice, all original conditon with no chips, cracks or broken pieces. The nickle plating is around 80% plus. This plane has seen little use in lifetime and has not been cleaned or tampered with. t are only a few of these known to exist in any size. I have seen a 1/2" size (sold through M. Donneley for nearly $3000) and a 3/8" size (private collection) but never a 1/4" besides this one. This would certainly be one of the top pieces in any collection. I am accepting only Paypal for this and will ship only within the US. Shipping and insurance will be determined at auction end.
