More Great Finds from rare*books*paper! This is a unique find that just came into our inventory. It is bound hardcover volume with the title on spine reading Geology Botany Etc. of Mt Katahdin - Inside is a volume created by a Katahdin lover who bound together a number of early pamphlets , journals , period icals o n the Mountain , the earliest one being 1881...and - What makes this an extra special treat is that the owner pasted in & tipped in EIGHT original photographs of the mountain (with descriptions) and of a group of adventurers at "McCleod's Camp ," some with 19th century dates. The book was owned J.B. Rowell of Lynn, Mass, an d was "Bound Nov. 26, 1915" as noted by the manuscript inscriptions on the first free end paper. Inside the front cover are two original albumen photographs with the ink description "Pomola Peak Ktaadn left 1899 Note Hobgobblins among rocks in foreground. " and "Ktaadn from Rogers Camp "Lunksoas, July, 1901." Inside back cover is a super Cyanotype of "The Fletc her, Rowell, Burroughs, Wesson Party at McLeods Camp, Mt. K taadn, Sept. 1899. " Shown are eleven people, four of whom are women, and the one on the right end appears to be a black man. There are two other ph otos on ins ide front cover.At the end of the pamphlets and the beginning of blank pages specially bound in, is a tipped in cyanotype
