GREAT FUN 1940'S SWING DRESS in PURE COTTON! Sweet rural print on white, piping swirled trim on a massive skirt! Size 12.

This is another "old friend" of a dress w the fabric has been washed so much, it is soft and comforting just like, well, an old friend!

This dress has a wide skirt that is beautifully trimmed in white swirly piping all around.

The bodice has a unique design with an overflap of extra material, almost like a shelf bra effect, also accented with piping.

Besides the great vintage silhouette, I LOVE the little rural people and cozy houses on this fabric! They look Pennsylvania Dutch to me. The little lady carries a flower and has a long prairie style skirt on, the man in farmer's garb carries a spade and a rake. The little houses have fences and flowers!They smile and dance happily all over the dress!

The white is an exceptionally brilliant fresh white and the printed little people are in shades of turquoise, yellow green, sienna browns, purple and pink. Very festive!

T are also little flowers and stars that scatter all over the dress. The colours might be a very little faded, but not by much considering the vintage of the dress.

T is a side metal zipper.

The measurements I get offer an size 12, possibly a bit larger, with the following measurements: 42" bust, 31" waist and full, free hips as the skirt is magnificently wide! The length of the dress from the top of the shoulder to the hemline is 46" and the great sweep is 110".

A very unique thing is that t is an inside petticoat which is actually a very old white muslin material attached at the waistline. I have shown a photo of it.

Also the skirt massively covers the full sized bed with its lavish amount of material.

T is piping along the gently scooped neck and along the gently capped sleeves. T is also an effect along the top of the back that is ornamented with piping too, almost like a stitched down collar.

This dress is very unique and has a great spirit to it! It is fresh white and dazzling yet soft in fabric but also holds a crisp silhouette. Just a very fun and rare one-of-a-kind dress to wear, to have and to love....like an old friend!
