You are bidding on a large wood model of a United Air Lines 1981 Douglas DC-8-71. Scale is 1:100, span is 17 1/2", length is 22 3/4", and it sits 7 3/4" to tip of fin. Stand is wood with brass nameplate. Condition is excellent. It carries bogus registration N2993U which was never used by UAL. A good photo of an identical United -71 may be seen on page 96 of "Great Airliners", Vol. 2, by Terry Waddington. Of 53 -71s built, United ordered 29 and took delivery of 5. All -70 series DC-8s were re-engined -60s, converted by Cammacorp at their Tulsa, OK plant.
