This is a very robust, handmade long knife or sword, which we're guessing is either Philippine or possibly Malay in origin. It has a blade length of almost 17 inches (16 & 7/8 inches), and an overall length of 21 & 3/4 inches. It does not have any maker's name or marks. The blade is quite thick, with the metal in the handle area being a full 3/16 of an inch wide, though it has a nice taper, and is thinner and lighter toward the tip. The two-piece slab handles appear to be buffalo horn, which is a commonly used material in that part of the world. The one-piece scabbard is leather of some kind, with a seam sewn on the back. CONDITION: The knife is very crudely made, the blade being made from a piece of metal of some kind. It has vertical marks on it, probably from a file. The edge is a bit rough, with a couple of nicks near the tip, and some grind marks, particularly on the right side towards the tip. The back edge (spine) has a lot of grind marks - it may have been formed that way. The handles are very roughly made. The scabbard was nicely made, though the leather looks a bit old. The blade goes into and out of the scabbard OK, with just light to medium resistance when pulling the blade out. FOR SALE TO ADULTS ONLY! FOR SALE INSIDE THE USA ONLY!!!
