Bearing in mind the comprehensive study of communion tokens over a hundred year period, these should be considered extremely rare and in some cases possibly unique. The Andrew Macmillan Collection of Scottish Communion tokens About three years ago Andrew Macmillan’s Collection of Communion tokens was offered for sale in a series of auctions by Simmons and Simmons. The Scottish Series was offered as a single lot of nearly 5000, which rather limited those who were prepared, or in a position, to bid. I think it was hoped that a museum or state institution would buy the collection and keep it intact. As it transpired I purchased the group. My initial intention was to keep the pieces together as I have always loved Communion tokens. I purchased them with my money and not that of my business. However, I have decided to offer them on Ebay over a long period, and at the end will produce a priced and illustrated record. Some of the pieces simply read more
