Up for auction is a vintage CAO Meerschaum Pipe depicting a dolphin and abstract coral. I would date this one from the 1970's though CAO pipes are hard to date; this pipe definitely has that vibe. Pipe is unsigned as CAO contracted with many carvers to produce the pipes they imported. The carving on this one is very good.Pipe is large; approximately 9" x 3" x 2 1/2" with a tobacco chamber 3/4".Pipe has an amberite stem and the shank is finished with rosette flourishes.I am currently thinning out my collection. I bought this pipe some time ago at an estate lot and have never smoked it as I don't really care much for the style. I have not done anything to this pipe only performed a basic cleaning as I know everyone has differing standards. It is a very nice pipe and would hope it goes to someone who would appreciate it rather than have it languish in my storage cabinet.
