RARE!!! DETROIT'S LEGENDARY MICHIGAN THEATRE - TICKET HOARD!!! 51 Sequentially numbered ZZ-Top unused concert tickets of November 21, 1974 (with T-Rex as the opening band). This is from a small hoard of tickets I found while searching (with the building owner) the closed off remains of the former Michigan Theatre. Downtown Detroit's legendary 4,050 seat former Michigan Theatre, was partly dismantled in 1977 for use as a 3 level parking structure, and made famous as the location w Eminem did his rap competition in the movie 8 MILE. The Michigan Theatre opened on August 23, 1926, the day Rudolph Valentino died. It was a palatial over the top movie palace done in French and Italian Renaissance style, a theatre of heart rendering beauty. From 1973-75 it was known as the Michigan Palace, a rock concert hall. Then in 1977, the unthinkable, it was partly gutted for a parking structure. The lobby had the grand staircase removed and an auto entrance ramp was put into it. The Auditorium had most of the balcony and sidewalls removed to insert a 3 story parking structure. Today it is the only parking structure in the world with an opulent renaissance style plaster ceiling! It was in this ruinous state that Eminem filmed part of his movie. Included in this EBAY offering are 51 sequential unused tickets that were found in a desk drawer in the former theatre managers office. Sequential ticket numbers are 01716 thru 01766 (see picture).
