This listing is for a beautiful and very unusual Chinese porcelain punch bowl dating to the 19th century. The bowl is finely painted around the outside with four roundels each containing a single character and surrounded by a ring of ruyi. It is done on a beautiful ground executed with blue enamel in a diapered pattern. The interior is paitned with a nice design of fish painted in two colors and accented with gilt swimming amongst aquatic plants. The underside of the bowl is finished with a lightly applied turquoise glaze and is has a four character mark in the center. The bowl measures 12.9 inches (32.75cm) across at its widest point and displays wonderfully. There is a matching chip on the inside and outside of the rim which has been filled and painted. We have pictured it for accuracy. There are no other chips, cracks, or restorations and the bowl rings like a bell when tapped. A wonderful and unusual piece of 19th century Chinese porcelain.
