Extremely unusual antique porcelain occupational shaving mug crested with a hand painted tiger head. He's very fierce looking with piercing eyes and sharp pointed teeth. I don't think the artist who painted this tiger really knew what tigers looked like. He painted it as he thought they should look. Perhaps the owner of this unusual shaving mug was a Tiger Tamer or a Tiger Hunter or simply a Tiger Lover. Shaving mug measures 3 1/2" tall X 3 1/2" in diameter at its base. Not marked but probably made by Limoges. Porcelain is quite thick and beautifully white. No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. T is wear to the gilding as you can see in my pictures and also to the owner's initials. Guaranteed antique and original. $9.00 shipping plus insurance in continental US.
