An old and highly unusual Black Buddha with most strange long eye brows that I ever seen ! Even stranger, he holds the statue of laughing Buddha !It is common to hear claims by temples that their deities moustache or beard grew longer as published in the press. This Black Buddha, however was obtained as it is and I didn't notice any growth. I wonder did it grown to this strange formation in its former abode ? According to legend, While Qing Shui was meditating in a cave, some mountain demons set fire at the entrance to kill him. They were unhappy as as Qing Shui planned to built a monastery in the area. Days later he appeared alive and completely soot covered. Thus some statue of him were being portrayed in this manner.Born in the Song dynasty, AD 1037 - 1101, some believed he is the reincarnation of the Pot Belly Laughing Buddha as he hold the statue of him.In condition as seen, It measures 12 inches in height with wear and some exposed fabric.
