- Beautiful Victorian Smoke Bell - is another piece that was bequeathed to me by a prominent Virginia glass collector. As such, you can be sure this is an authentic Victorian smoke bell used for oil or kerosene lamps. The condition of this bell is absolutely flawless--no nicks, no cracks, and orginal chain still attached. A truly attractive (and based on my research, unordinary) piece. Good luck and bid with total confidence! Dimensions Height: 8 inches Base Width: 6 inches IMPORTANT COLOR NOTE: I had someone point out that this smoke bell looks more amber than green. After second study under closer light, I can confirm that this item is unquestionably amber, and calling it green was an oversight on my part. In any case, the photos provided are an accurate representation. CLARIFYING MY RESPONSE TO THE QUESTION ABOUT WHETHER THE RING HAS A CRACK: In the chain closeup photo, what looks to be a crack or abrasion on the ring is simply a reflection from the camera. I wrongly assumed the person inquiring (see Q&A below) was referring to the ring's hidden seam, which cannot be seen in the photos provided. Again, this smoke bell is in mint condition.
