unusual Hakata Urasaki Doll "SCULPTOR" U-307 PAPER NO RESERVE! This is a vintage porcelain doll that is damaged, offered as is that was obtained from an old country auction in Missouri, it has its original paper hanger label and is titled "THE SCULPTOR" measures about 9.5 inches tall and 7 inches wide, condition is damaged, t is a chip off his foot and the figurine has a broken head, the piece is offered for repair and restoration, a great collectible to show or use. According to a WWW web site, during the Korean War at June 1950 - July 1953 many U.S. military personnel were stationed in Japan . At those days, Japanese government had been controlled by U.S. forces as the results of Second world war. Since Fukuoka is very near Korea , Fukuoka became major military logistic base for U.S. forces, and Hakata is name of town in Fukuoka prefecture. As a matter of fact, so-called Hakata Urasaki doll was made as souvenirs from Japan for U.S. military personnel, and so many, if not all, Hakata Urasaki doll would be in U.S.A.
