a very unusual and beautifully executed occasional table for ILLUMS BOLIGHUS .
this table is impeccable in its construction and materials. a solid wenge wood frame surrounding an incredible bright and very large enameled metal table top . the enameled top is a star-burst motif in blues and oranges. the base of this table is reminiscent of poul kjaerholm in it's off- axis leg configuration. i am unable to attribute this piece at this time but this may change as i am actively searching mant sources for this information. this piece is manufactured with no screws or nails. the base sits into itself and is attached to the table top with wooden dowels. a handcrafted masterpiece . condition is very good with a bit of a dented corner on one corner at the top of the table and a glued leg. both are of no detraction to the table's beauty or structure and are not very visible as the leg is under the table and the dent is just that... could be pushed down to make it perfect if one would like to.. the legs of the table are made of what seems to be ebonized wood. i am unsure of the type. marked with the illums bolighus metal plaque. i would guess this table dates to the late 50's or early 60's. i have a mid 50's illums catalogue but the table is not included in that particular issue. dimensions are : about 25" square, and about 20" high. a very special custom piece by a very skilled artisan for the legendary ILLUMS shop in copenhagen denmark.
