UNUSUAL LARGE VICTORIAN OPALINE GLASS SERPENT EWER c1870 Description LARGE VICTORIAN OPALINE SERPENT EWER circa 1870 This UNUSUAL LARGE VICTORIAN OPALINE SERPENT EWER dates from circa 1870. It stands approximately 12.75 inches (32.5 cm) in height. The handle of this EWER is in the form of a GREEN SERPENT which winds its way around the body of the EWER. The GILT decoration on the serpent is made to look like the snake's skin. The condition of the EWER is good. There are no cracks, chips or restoration. There is wear to the gilt decoration as can be seen clearly in the photographs. There are some small incisions in the base of the tail of the serpent which appear to have been made to enable the green glass to be bent around the body of the ewer (please see photograph). A CLASSIC ANTIQUE OPALINE GLASS EWER that would display beautifully on a table or cabinet. If you have any questions please ask.
