UNUSUAL CHOPPING TOOL DESCRIPTION : Typology : UNUSUAL example of a CHOPPING TOOL ( in reference: "La dénomination des objets de pierre taillée." by MICHEL BREZILLON, C.N.R.S. 1977). Cutting : This particular one was created using a large flint pebble. It was fully cut on one face, while the other is partly cortical. The point is pyramidal and presents evidence of useware. The butt is concave and cortical , safe for gripping and handling. Dating, hominid : This implement belongs to the Early Acheulean Culture (Lower Paleolithic period, circa 700 000 years ago), and was conceived by Homo ERGASTER. Origin : This piece was found in the Grand-Pressigny area. It was discovered in the Creuse's ancient riverbed, w the flint was polished in the turmoils of the sands and waters.
