These are a superb SET OF SIX VICTORIAN ANTIQUE SILVER PLATED "GRAVY FORKS" by the famous English silversmiths ELKINGTON They are marked with a Victorian Kite registration mark, which dates them exactly, to January 12th 1867. The forks each measure approx 8 1/4 inches (120mm) long and are made from good quality silver plate. The silver plating is in very good condition. The forks are the same as traditional fiddle pattern forks, but have the gap between the prongs filled in for two thirds of their length, thus forming a small spoon at the back of the fork, and allowing the user to eat gravy, sauces, etc without having to use a seperate utensil. (I have heard them refered to by various names over the years, shuch as Gravy forks, sauce forks, pea forks etc.) These unusual forks are fine examples of their type and they would make a great addition to any dining ensemble.
