It is handmade of what our localshop believes is cedar, a tonewood usuallyassociated with classical guitars. It bearsthe label of an Italian-Venezuelan maker. This video clip is shot on my inexpensive Casio digital camera in video mode. There is absolutely no enhancement of the sound whatsoever...no special microphones, no computer alteration, no studio effects.The piece being played is Vivaldi's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor. It is absolutely amazing. One of the mostbeautiful violins I've seen in a long time.It possesses a powerful, resonant voice...with singing trebles and deep, rich basses. This is a beautifully, uniquely carved instrument with anunusual but nicely arched body which likely accountsfor the big, warm, sonorous tone. I believe this violin belongs in the hands of an advancedviolinist or a collector of handmade instruments. Full Size ~ 4/4 Antique Violin MEASUREMENTS: FULL SIZE, 4/4 VIOLIN Full Size ~ 4/4 ViolinOverall Length: 23-3/8"Body Length: 14"Width of Lower Bout: 8-1/8"Width of Upper Bout: 6-1/2 CONDITION A 4/4 violin in nice condition. There are no sound post cracks, no cracks to the neck or scroll...as a matter of fact,I find no cracks at all. The seams are tight and there is no evidence of any past repairs. This is an estate instrument so naturally, there is some minimal wear...very minor scuffs, dings as you would expect from an instrument a violin that has been played and is not brand new. I always recommend that you string it with fresh strings that suit your ear...andhave it set up to your liking. One thing I can say about it...its a gorgeous, unusual violin! I've never seen another like it. Exceptional violins of this age and in this fine state of preservation are becoming more and more difficult to acquire on Ebay.
