This is an usual brass lamp found in Maine. No shade or glass but a brass removable ring is present. The wick is circular or conical. The brand is "THE PLUME & ATWOOD MFG. CO. " and "PAT DEC. 30/73 & OCT. 31/71" The lamp measures approx. 10.5 inches tall. It is heavily weighted on the base with cast iron which (with the brass) leads me to believe it from a ship or coastal station. Neat solder circle near the top appears to be original or early. Good luck bidding on this 19th century piece of lighting. Purchased from a collection of marine / nautical antiques from coastal Maine. Many of the antiques come from Maine, Gloucester, Mass., and the Cape Ann area. The point of purchase was less than 20 miles from Monhegan Island, Maine. T will be some really fun stuff included this week, with an emphasis on nautical / marine / pirate stuff. Check out our listings and have fun bidding & buying.
