Offered for your consideration is a very unusual vintage German bowie-style hunting knife. The knife has a blade that appears to have been made to simulate Damascus, not only in look but feel as well. The blades surfaces are deeply textured. The knife appears to have been made in 1989 and still bears the old "West Germany" marks. The knife doesn't appear to have seem much use and was never sharpened. The blade is quite thick and looks to be of carbon steel. T are a couple spots of light surface oxidation. These will scrub off as t is no pitting or corrosion. The guard and pommel are of some type of cast metal that was plated. The surfaces have a dimpled texture that was cast into the design. The handle is of some type of dense, hard resin. It has a simulated etch of dual rams on a mountain scene, though the "etch" is partially worn. The handle is completely tight and free of any damage or problems. The entire knife is actually very solid with the guard having just the slight movement if forced. This knife almost looked too clean and I initially wondered whether it had been refinished. I do not think that's the case, as the finish is just too perfect to be some kind of home refinish job. The blade is 5-7/8" and the knife measures 10-1/2" in overall length. T is no sheath with this knife. An unusual and unique vintage German knife!!
