First of all, we know nothing about the History of this Set at all.Other than they were Created in Japan and were purchased in Florida, quite a journey.We will, none the less provide you with all the information we can.They were seen at an Estate Sale and 'cried out' to be taken home, so we did.The rather odd thing we can contribute is that the woman we bought them from had acquired (a long existing) Antique Store Twenty Seven years ago and this pair was part of her beginning inventory.Until we saw them and heard their cry!This is a matching pair of Planters/Urns.They are made from Brass and have had an outdoor sort of life.That is somewhat of a shame but they have survived and have been rescued and it might mean, better things are ahead for these two. We hope so.They do deserve it!This is a Set of Two (2) relatively large Planters/Urns, they each measure: 8&3/4" Tall by 12" Across w/Handles. The Top Lip is 9&1/2" Wide and the Base is 8" Wide.The marking on the bottom of the pieces is, JAPAN (see pictures), not Taiwan or China.They both have matching embossed etchings of a Mythical Pageant being played out.The Etchings are nicely done, especially since they are done on a both raised & bowed surface.The Two (2) Handles on each piece are in the form of Mushrooms and are attached firmly, no wobble.
