US Air Force Combat Readiness Medal Cased Set The Combat Readiness Medal was authorized on 9 March 1964 by the Secretary of the Air Force. Awarded to individuals with 24 months of sustained combat or mission ready status deployed in one of the following ways: Serving as aircrew on wartime missions into enemy territory. As a member of a missile operation which could deploy weapons to destroy enemy targets. Serving to directly control in-flight manned aircraft whose wartime mission is to seek and destroy enemy targets. A bronze oak leaf cluster denotes additional 24 month award periods. Offered is a complete cased set with a currently manufactured full size medal, ribbon bar and lapel pin in the dark blue presentation case, embossed with "United States of America" on the cover.
